Cantilever racking systems are the ideal space saving solution for string long and large loads such as, timber boards, aluminum and plastic extrusions, steel tubes and bars. The load is held by the arm which transfers the load to the supporting upright beam or base. Most of these have been designed to maximize your storage space that can give you easy access to your loads wherever they are stored. These storage equipments are designed to specifically accommodate the storage needs of the workers or business owners, whatever the load or shape is.

There are several components of a cantilever rack. These are the following:

  • Uprights – these are the vertical beam that supports the arms.
  • Base- it is connected directly into the base which are commonly bolted, providing the stability and support for the uprights to hold the loads.
  • Arms- these are the horizontal beams that support the load when stored. They can be set at various angles depending on storage requirements.
  • Braces- these are connected and supported the uprights, creating strength and rigidity.

When it comes to storage for long loads, it only comes down into two options: floor stacking or cantilever racking. This system requires considerable investment in capital but drastically improve warehouse productivity and handling times while developing storage capabilities. Like the other kinds of system in managing your warehouse, we can also achieve several advantages but unfortunately, disadvantages as well.

Advantages: This system is very easy to install and reconfigure that able to store any type of load from pallets to timber. Additional arms can be added allowing for storage of all shapes and sizes. Cantilever racking can store products vertically up to 6 meters high, reducing handling times and improving productivity as stock is more accessible.

Disadvantages: Cantilever racking system cost of investment to install and design the racking and it is inefficient in storing pallets.
